Voci dal Bosco is a poetic and humorous journey into the world of plants, an immersive attempt to tune into the environment. We are in a forest—and have always been—because we cannot separate ourselves from it, or rather, from the mutual collaboration among living beings. In this performance, trees take the floor and contribute to the creation of worlds: perspectives that meet, clash, misunderstand, and transform one another. Through a game of continuous metamorphosis, the actress becomes the spokesperson for the relationships, stories, myths, and legends that have always intertwined humans, plants, fungi, and all the tiny, swarming creatures. It is time for the forest to speak and reveal to humankind the secrets it has long kept hidden within its apparent silence. The show premiered in 2022 at the Mulino ad Arte - Teatro a Pedali festival, winning the selection call that allowed it to become part of Risonanze 2023 Network. It was later hosted by numerous theater festivals across Italy, including the Emilian festival L’uomo che cammina and the Cunicoli Festival.
Elena Borgna is an actress, director, and writer - or, as she likes to call herself, a “theatrewoman”. From a young age, she discovered in theatre a complex and all-encompassing art form, a space where she could channel her many passions and embark on a journey of inner exploration. After a mission trip to Brazil, she studied Intercultural Communication in Turin and trained in theatre at the Philip Radice Physical Theatre Atelier, where she deepened her knowledge of dance-theatre, acrobatics, mask work, commedia dell'arte, Butoh dance, clowning, and superdrama. Driven by a desire to merge theatre and anthropology within an ecological and spiritual discourse of renewed harmony with nature, she connected with the cultural association Teatro Selvatico, through which she created her first solo performance, Voci dal Bosco (Voices from the Woods). The show was presented at numerous Italian festivals, and she collaborated as a director, actress, event organizer, and theatre trainer. In 2023, she debuted her second work as a director and playwright, Voci dal Micelio. Between 2023 and 2024, she deepened her spiritual and artistic research by living in the forest, studying voice with Zero Teatro, and participating in the creation of a women's choir, while also practicing Vipassana meditation. She currently lives in an intentional ecological community, where she explores the interdependent relationships between living beings, the dream world, and non-verbal communication.
Teatro Selvatico is a cultural association based in Torre Mondovì, Piedmont, dedicated to theatre workshops in nature. One of the project's main goals is to build an interconnected artistic community to develop new ideas and creative projects. The wild people of Teatro Selvatico seek the freest, most complete, and most profound expression of the self, recognizing nature as both mother and muse. The association’s performances and workshops are rooted in the deep interconnection between humans and the community of living beings, making the surrounding environment both the stage and the subject of a creative and introspective process. This approach fosters artistic exploration and a shared journey of personal growth.
