Alcune cose da mettere in ordine (some things to sort out) arises from Rubidori Manshaft’s direct experience in nursing homes for elderly people, where memory, absence, loneliness, and care become material for research. Taking up the threads of their previous works, the artist questions the body and its political meaning, time, fear, and the loss of self and of memory. The protagonist, Anna, a woman just beyond the threshold of sixty, goes through a period in which what she thinks and remembers surfaces, slips away, re-emerges, and becomes confused. Her words and gestures lead the audience through a montage of events in which dreams, disillusionments, and regrets build an emotional and perceptual landscape. The sound design follows the fragmentary nature of her thoughts, alternating light, sudden, or almost imperceptible sounds with deep frequencies. The performance is an intimate yet shareable journey that stages a fragile and vivid human dimension, questioning the way each of us confronts what remains and what is lost.
Rubidori Manshaft is the alias under which the set designer Roberta Dori Puddu signs her theatrical and performative works. Trained in cinema and theatre with Mafai, Scaparro, Bolognini, and Tosi, she works as a set designer for Teatro alla Scala and other international theatres, also collaborating with Renzo Mongiardino, Lila De Nobili, Fabio Palamidese, Emilio Carcano, Chloé Obolensky, Irene Groudinsky, and Claudie Gastine. An exponent of visual poetry, she took part in the 2005 Venice Biennale. With Officina Orsi she created 12parole_7pentimenti in 2014 and the cycle Sull’Umano sentire between 2015 and 2016. In 2017 she created Handle me with care, and in 2021 she began the research for Alcune cose da mettere in ordine, which premiered at FIT in Lugano in 2023.
A journey into the aura of key practices and figures of spirituality and performance art between body, gesture and vision.
